A Story of Family, Land, and Vision

Our Roots
Ours is the story of a family that found its path in the land and in the daily work of the vineyards. A story shaped by commitment, respect for tradition, and a deep sense of belonging, one that has grown over time alongside the fruits of the vine.
It all began with Carlo Scala, a multifaceted man with great intuition, the son of fruit merchants and owner of a small vineyard on the slopes of Monte Baldo. It was here that a simple yet profound vision was born: to enhance what the land has to offer, with authenticity and dedication.
The Beginning of a Dream
In the early 1950s, supported and encouraged by his wife Angelina: a cultured and determined woman: Carlo took a decisive step: he began vinifying the grapes from his own vineyard. Until then, those grapes had been destined almost exclusively for local taverns and wine bars.
Passion and knowledge, combined with an openness to increasingly modern techniques, soon allowed Carlo Scala wines: especially those aged in wooden barrels, to be appreciated beyond the village boundaries, becoming a point of reference for neighboring territories.

Tradition in Evolution
These were years when rural authenticity was a rare and precious value, capable on its own of expressing the quality of a wine. A simple, honest wine that accompanied the daily meals of the emerging middle class and won over intellectuals and poets alike, who affectionately called it “vino paesano.”
With the arrival of the 1980s and the involvement of the grandchildren, the winery entered a new phase. The first bottling line was created, and wine began to tell its story also through its label, opening up to a wider audience while preserving a strong connection to its origins.
The Present and the Future
In the 1990s, following in the footsteps of grandfather Carlo and under his attentive guidance, the winery underwent a major reorganization. New vineyards were planted, vinification and bottling facilities were renewed, and specialized expertise was introduced to ensure continuity and quality.
Today, Carlo Scala wines are present on both national and international markets, with production extending across Veneto, Puglia, and Sicily. A story born from a small vineyard that continues to grow, looking to the future with the same passion as in the beginning and with the desire to tell, in every bottle, a piece of its own history.
